Caregiver Consultation
The ARK’s Dementia Care Advocate partners with
families to set care priorities, share caregiving techniques, and
connect with resources to allow the person with memory problems to live
a quality life at home as independently as possible.
Typically, a family will request a meeting in person or by phone. We
listen and learn where the family is with regards to dealing with their
loved ones health situation. We discuss the needs of the individual, the
caregiver, and the family. We help them to identify resources. The
information may direct families to consider respite care programs,
non-medical home care, companion/sitter care, and financial resources
available in the community. We may encourage the family to find a
support group, provide information on a particular specialist or doctor
for next steps, or learn about other types of caregiver training and
techniques available.
